“Our mission here at Stag Films is to create low budget movies designed to titillate, shock and inspire. We’re not limited by genre: You want sex? Sure, we got it. Violence? Done. How about a family film? Not a problem, we like kids as much as the next guy. Musicals? You bet your bottom dollar! The one key ingredient that all Stag films have is an overriding element of subversion. The kinds of movies best viewed in the basement at three o’clock in the morning and one of your parents comes down, takes a horrified look at the screen and asks, “What the hell are you watching?”
Can anybody be a Stag guy or Stag girl? The answer is a resounding ‘YES.” With everything going on in the world today, all of our minds are becoming a little warped. That’s right, it’s no longer reserved for the twisted elite and avant garde. Stag Films is at the forefront of the ‘Warping America’s Mind’ movement and we’re accepting new members all the time.
But how can Stag Films compete alongside the behemouth of today’s mainstream entertainment? As a Stag supporter, you should think of yourself as a beaver, working tirelessly to dam that main stream. We here at Stag Films really dig metaphors, so feel free to substitute that one with your own. Either way, the first step in the process of rebellion is active participation, so as James Brown says, “Get up, get into it, get involved!”
A word on low budgets: It seems a little incongruent that the technology to make a decent looking movie has become cheaper and more accessible while the cost of making a movie through a studio has gone way up. I’m talking about these 100 million dollar plus jobs that pop up in our theaters every weekend only to succeed in making about 101 million. Why not spend 1 million and hope it makes 2 million? Now, I ain’t no economist, but what I deduct from that kind of math is this message: If you’re not a big fish, you can’t make a movie. As long as the budgets are way beyond anybody’s range, the people in power are safe. Well, whaddya say, little fish? Let’s go hunt ourselves some whales. Let’s wipe out the entire population of whales on this planet. Metaphors, baby, just metaphors.
Now let’s have some fun!”
